The Hampshire Prosperity Partnership is developing a detailed analysis of grid constraints across Hampshire and Solent that impact renewable energy and electrification and thus the economy. This will support strategic planning aligned to the UK's 2035 decarbonisation goal, such as electrification of transport. They aim to produce a report in Feb 2026 - how much we need, where barriers are, what’s stopping growth followed by recommendations. The hope is to include the conclusions of Local Area Energy Plans being developed by Winchester City Council and several other Councils and to align it all with the work of the Solent Growth Board, to be ready around the time the Mayor takes up post. This will take forward engagement that has already taken place with National Grid and SSEN.
